Dr. Huseyin Aytug is a Data Scientist at Instabox with a background in economics. He received his M.A (2010) and Ph.D. (2013), both in economics, from the University of California-Santa Cruz, USA. His research interests are macroeconomics, monetary economics, international finance, econometrics, optimization, and machine learning. He is author and co-author of numerous journal and conference papers, as well as three book chapters. As a researcher and data scientist, he uses several software programs for econometrics, statistical analysis, and machine learning projects, including Matlab, Eviews, Stata, R, Python, and Alteryx.

Before joining Instabox, he worked as a Senior Researcher at the Swedish House of Finance. He conducted research in the field of household finance using Swedish registry data. His main responsibilities were data cleaning, database construction, programming, and statistical analysis.

He previously worked at the Central Bank of Turkey and Gulf Monetary Council as an economist and conducted research in monetary economics, international finance, and macroeconomics. He worked as a Senior Lecturer at the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance and taught classes in economics, math, statistics, and econometrics.

He also has experience in pitching, business development, and fundraising as an entrepreneur. He is one of the co-founders of Jaisy Sthlm, where he helped develop a low-cost and non-invasive jaundice meter. This unique business idea has won several awards such as the Swedbank Rivstart, Silicon Vikings, EIT Health Bootcamp, EIT Health Bootcamp Tour, KTH Brighter Fellowship, KTH Bicky Chakraborty Entrepreneurship Program, and Venture Cup. He is also one of the co-founders of Datafy, which is a consulting company for data science and app development projects.
