Gozde Nur Donat

Gozde Nur Donat is a former political journalist deeply passionate about intercultural communication and with a scholarly focus deeply rooted in Ottoman history, nationalism, and socialism. Currently pursuing a Ph.D. in History and Civilizations at INALCO, Paris, her research centers on Ottomanism from its emergence in the late 19th century until the last decade of the empire, with a particular emphasis on Turkish-Muslim socialists and their interactions with non-Muslim communities, notably those from the Balkans and Eastern Anatolia.

Gozde Nur’s academic journey began with a bachelor’s degree in political science and international relations at Bosphorus University, Istanbul. She earned her master’s degree in history and social sciences, graduating with honors, where she extensively explored the complexities of Ottoman socialism, laying the groundwork for her current doctoral research. Fluent in Turkish, English, French, and proficient in Bulgarian, her linguistic versatility enhances her ability to engage with diverse sources and perspectives, facilitating a comprehensive understanding of historical narratives and social dynamics.

Beyond her academic pursuits, she brings a wealth of professional experience in political journalism to the table. Her roles have equipped her with valuable organizational skills, intercultural competence, and a keen eye for detail—attributes that complement her academic rigor and enrich her contributions to scholarly discourse.
