Fatlinda Daku

Nonresident Research Associate

Fatlinda Daku holds a Master’s degree in International Relations and Diplomacy, completed through studies at the University of Prishtina, the Paris Lodron University of Salzburg, and a course through JLU’s Virtual International Programme (VIP).

Her academic and research interests lie in small-state diplomacy, populist rhetoric, and European integration. Her master’s thesis, Populist Rhetoric in the Foreign Policy of Small States: Strategic Mobilization or Diplomatic Constraint? The Case of Kosova (2025), explores how political discourse among Kosovo’s leaders has influenced the country’s foreign policy and its engagement with the European Union.

Fatlinda’s work bridges political science, communication, and regional studies, with a particular focus on how rhetoric shapes diplomatic behavior and public perception in emerging democracies. She has participated in various academic programs and policy schools across Europe, contributing to research and dialogue on governance, democracy, and transitional justice.

Beyond academia, she is actively engaged in civic initiatives through the Global Shapers Community Salzburg Hub, promoting youth participation, inclusive governance, and cross-border cooperation. Her interests also extend to the intersection of politics and culture, reflected in her ongoing work as a theater reviewer and documentary storyteller.

Fatlinda is passionate about fostering stronger European cooperation through research and dialogue, with a long-term interest in advancing the role of small states within the broader European and transatlantic context.
