Dr. Isa Eraslan

Nonresident Research Fellow

Isa Eraslan is a visiting fellow at the School of Global Studies, Gothenburg University, Sweden. His work focuses primarily on the role of the military over politics in the Middle East. At the moment, he is working on a book project titled Shadow Rule of the Military in Turkey and Egypt. He is also conducting ongoing research on democratic backsliding in Turkey. His research interests mainly cover civil-military relations, diasporas, security studies, and authoritarianism.

Dr. Eraslan worked at Fatih University in Istanbul from 2008 to 2016 and gave lectures on Political Philosophy, Civil Society, and Democratization. He also took part in projects about the perception of Turkish foreign policy abroad. He is currently working on a project proposal on the Turkish diaspora in Sweden.
