Luke Malhi
Luke Malhi is a Politics and International Relations graduate from the University of Bristol, specializing in populism and democratic theory. His dissertation examined how the Labour Party under Keir Starmer perceived and responded to populism, drawing on interviews with MPs and party strategists. His broader research interests focus on European politics, particularly from a comparative perspective on how parties and institutions navigate the challenges posed by populist movements and their implications for democracy. He is also interested in state-building and security in Africa in relation to democratic theory, shaped by his experience growing up in Ghana, West Africa. Luke was awarded the Dean’s Award for Academic Excellence at Bristol and is a member of Chatham House, the Royal Institute of International Affairs in London. Outside of academia, he is an enthusiastic filmmaker and photographer, passionate about translating academic concepts in political science into accessible formats.
