Dr. Roya Imani Giglou

Dr. Roya Imani Giglou is a computational social scientist specializing in social network analysis and digital methods. She holds a PhD in Social Sciences from KU Leuven, Belgium, where she conducted both her doctoral and postdoctoral research at the Institute for Media Studies. Her research examines how digital technologies shape political participation, social capital, and social integration among migrant, refugee, and diaspora communities. She has studied the political mobilization of the Turkish diaspora in Europe and the role of digital technologies in the social inclusion of Syrian refugees in Belgium.

Her work has been published in New Media & Society, Telematics and Informatics, and the International Communication Gazette, as well as in an edited volume published by Springer International Publishing. Her doctoral dissertation was shortlisted for the 2019 J. Van den Heuvel Award for the most outstanding PhD dissertation in Social Sciences and Social and Cultural Anthropology at KU Leuven. She is also an External Expert for the European Commission and a Standing Committee Member of IMISCOE and is currently based in Toronto, Canada.
