Maël Jones is a second year joint MA student in Contemporary European Studies. After having done his first year at the University of Bath he is now finishing his graduate degree at the Humboldt-University in Berlin. Maël is twenty-three, he grew up in Belgium to German and Welsh parents and studied a BA in politics and international relations at the University of Kent. He is primarily interested in the radical right phenomenon in Western Europe. Specifically, how the failure – of mainstream parties and the liberal democratic system – to create meaning has resulted in an opportunity for the radical right to win over so many voters.
